This paper introduces the Virtual National Phonotheque of the Czech Republic, an audio heritage portal run by the Moravian Library in Brno. We start with a short excursion into history and into the present situation regarding the preservation of audio heritage in the Czech Republic. The Moravian Library in Brno is currently leading the effort to create a single database integrating metadata describing the contents of sound archives held by Czech institutions. The library has also established a gramophone record digitisation lab and has developed a guide to gramophone record digitisation, publishing and preservation, including enhancements to the Kramerius Digital Library, allowing the playback of digitised recordings conforming to Czech copyright law. Presentation of discographic records as result of Internal Grants of The Faculty of Arts of Charles University, project number 2013FF006642.
