Broadcast archives in the challenge of preservation and reuse

File-based archiving has been in practical use for 20 years. Recommendations such as IASA TC04 for audio helped to give AV archivists high awareness of transfer quality when creating digital objects. The OAIS reference model established meaningful planning of long-term archiving. However, the specific requirements of production departments at broadcasters present a significant challenge. The authors consider different aspects of archiving and data formats from historical and forward-looking perspectives in the context of living installations in TV and Radio Archives.
